“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:23

We're all born sinners. We've all heard it at one time or another. It’s been true since Adam and Eve, when even then, it was known. We would all fall short of the glory of God. But our Father in Heaven gave us the gift of Jesus "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Because of God's extremely powerful love and mercy, He gave us Jesus, who paid that wage of death as only He could. We accept that gift of grace through our faith, which grants us eternity with God. Though our flesh might die, our souls get to live on in Heaven with our Father. This is the greatest gift we could ever receive. It's through faith that God works in us. We are either a slave to sin, or a slave to righteousness. Only one gets into heaven. It is clear God cannot allow sin into heaven, so our old selves, slaves to sin, must die so that we can be born again through Christ, who works within us by giving us the Holy Spirit. He changes us to be righteous and perfect in God's eyes when we stand before Him one day. The changes are not always fast, nor easy. But when you get that feeling of "this isn't right," listen. The Holy Spirit is trying to help you guide you to that narrow path of eternal life and salvation with our Father in Heaven. Salvation does not mean you no longer fear death because this world has nothing left or good to offer you, but rather, you no longer fear death because you know something better is coming – a righteous, perfect place where sin can no longer keep you down. It’s a place with our Father.
