Day #11 | Behold 2028 Devotional

Feb 11, 2025

“And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence.” - Colossians 1:17-18

“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy.” – Colossians 1:17-18

When we look at the church, it’s tempting to see only the surface—buildings, programs, traditions, and people with flaws just like us. But Colossians 1:17-18 calls us to behold something far greater: God’s church as a living, unified body with Christ Himself as its head.

Jesus is not just a leader or figurehead of the church; He is its source, its sustainer, and its purpose. “In Him all things hold together”—this means that every act of worship, every expression of love, and every step of faith within the church flows from His supreme authority and divine power. The church exists because He conquered death and rose victorious, making Him “the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead.”

To behold the church as God sees it is to marvel at its eternal significance. It’s not a human institution but a divine masterpiece, woven together by Christ’s sacrifice and empowered by His Spirit. Every member plays a part in displaying His glory to the world, just as the head directs the body.

This vision calls us to deeper reverence and commitment. Are we honoring Christ’s supremacy by building unity, serving selflessly, and advancing His kingdom? Do we see the church not as a convenience but as a sacred expression of God’s redemptive work?

As we behold God’s church, let us remember that it reflects His glory and stands as a testimony to His eternal reign. Christ holds it all together, and through Him, we are part of something eternal. Let us worship, serve, and belong in awe of what He is building.
